About the Department of Bengali

The Bengali Department of Barjora College was established in 1996 and has developed into a full-fledged under graduate dept with 500-1000 seats. The Department has six faculty members who are all engaged in serious research works apart from regular academic activities. The department houses a small seminar library. Besides academic activities seminars and conferences are organized at regular intervals along with other teaching learning programs. The Department is already in the process open regular PG course in Bengali. The college runs Netaji University Study Centre where post-graduation in Bengali is taught. The mission of the Department of Bengali aims at equipping students with in-depth knowledge and intellectual tools to engage global and nation specific linguistic challenges arising in the area of literary studies.

The vision of the department endeavors to generate new knowledge and produce students who are trained in literary studies specifically in Bengali language along with interdisciplinary connections with three other language and literature disciplines of this Institution. The Department of Bengali strives to pursue academic excellence in Teaching-Learning process, Research and Extension.
