Dear Students, Staff, Parents, Alumni/ae, and Well Wishers,

Barjora College, P.O. Barjora, Dt. Bankura, W.B was established in 1985 when virtually  higher education was a long way off especially to the economically backward people of the Northern Bankura district. To cater the need of higher education a few distinguished education-lovers and dedicators of the locality came to the forefront to realize the long-cherished dream of setting up a college.  After hard and unflinching struggle the college was sanctioned on 05/09/1985 and it started functioning as a pass/general course college with six subjects i.e. Bengali, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science and Economics for about ten years with its poor infrastructural facility. After a ‘ten year pass/general course run’, considering the growing public demand for extension of greater facilities of higher education emerging from the changing economic conditions in the rural Northern Bankura district, the University of Burdwan and concurrently the State Government  (W.B) sanctioned Honours courses one after another including Geography & Sanskrit Honours except Economics.

The aim of our college is to make a perfect man in terms of academic, social and moral considerations. Hence we try our best to impart quality education and do take individual care to bring out the perfect man which is dormant within the mind of the young learners .Formal Examinations, good result and class tests are necessary for students since these are instrumental in building up one’s knowledge, character and personality which prophesies the prospect of a nation .Our college maintains this motto continually for greater service of the individual and the society as a whole.

It is my highest pleasure to see the steady growth of this College which,     in future, will flourish into a full-grown tree. Men may come and go but the college will stand dedicated for the welfare of the society which will ultimately determine the prospect of the nation. Keeping all these factors in mind we are pledged to dedicate ourselves to fulfil our mission of learning.
